Carpathian VA FAQ

What is a Virtual Airline?
It is similar to a real airline - we have our own fleet with our livery, hubs and schedule; we have pilots who fly the assigned flights. However the flights are flown in Microsoft Flight Simulator. This is a great hobby and everyone is welcome.

Who can join our Virtual Airline?
To join us, you must have Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 or 2004. Please join us only if you have Flight Simulator experience and if you are interested in flying for our company. If you don't have basic knowledge about flying and navigating, you may learn these from Flight Simulator's handbook, lessons and from the Internet.

How can I join Carpathian VA?
To join our company, you must first agree to our Terms and Conditions. After that, proceed to the Join form. Sending a Join form means that you have read and accepted our Terms and Conditions. You can get help on filling out the application by clicking here. After you have sent a Join form, your name will appear in the rosters in 1..7 days. If the data in the application is incorrect, we will contact you.

Which planes am I allowed to fly?
Check the Awards page for information about the aircraft that are allowed with a rank (for example if you have TC rank, you can fly only the AN-24B and IL-18D). For the ANR special missions, check the Missions page to see if a certain flight can be flown by you.

How do I install planes?
As at a real-world airline, you must fly the assigned flights with our company's planes. Click on Fleet, then on a plane photo to download it. After you have downloaded it, extract with WinZip to root of your FS installation. Start Flight Simulator and you can select the plane.

How do I install panels, sounds, scenery?
This depends on the add-on, because the aircraft add-ons aren't created by Carpathian, they don't all follow equal procedures, so the best thing is to open the file and look for readme.txt or similar file. The readme file always explains how the add-on should be installed.

How do I report flights?
After you have flown a flight, you have to report it to us, so we can update the roster with your flight. To report a flight, you have to go to our Pilot Report (PIREP) page, then enter the data about your flight. After you've submitted a pilot report, we will add your flight hours to your total in 1..7 days. If the data in the pilot report is incorrect or missing, we will contact you.

How do I fly online?
We prefer to fly online on the IVAO network, our code is CAH (for example if your ID is 161, use callsign CAH161) and the radio callsign is Carpat (regardless if you fly Carpathian or ANR flights). If you need help on online flying, please contact ro-ec@ivao.aero.
